1909 Luther Burbank Signed Bookplate Portrait, Santa Rosa, CA with COA

An original signed portrait of famed American botanist and horticulturist Luther Burbank. Taken from a larger volume, this black-and-white bookplate-style photograph (measuring 6″ x 8.25″) depicts Burbank seated. Boldly signed in ink at the lower margin: “Luther Burbank / Santa Rosa Calif. Jan. 23rd, 1909.”

Condition: Scattered surface creasing and minor wear with faint soiling/foxing; light mounting residue on the verso. Signature remains bold and clear. Burbank (1849–1926) was a pioneer in agricultural science, credited with developing over 800 new plant varieties during his career. His contributions included innovative fruits, vegetables, and ornamentals, notably the spineless cactus and the plumcot. Most famously, he cultivated the Russet Burbank potato, which remains the most widely grown potato in the United States—and is the primary variety used for McDonald’s French fries.

Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from John Reznikoff, one of the world’s premier autograph authenticators for PSA, JSA, and numerous auction houses.
